Emerging Stage Manager
Job Summary
Ransack Theatre and ADMA Productions are seeking an enthusiastic, emerging Stage Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of performances for a new co-production, Jurassic. This an emergent role for someone with no more than 6 years experience in stage management.
About Jurassic
A late-night screening of a certain Steven Spielberg classic causes carnage on a university campus. What starts as a misunderstanding about the film quickly spirals into mass redundancies and bizarre conspiracies. The fight for academic survival is on! A ridiculous satire about fake news and fossils, written by Bruntwood Prize-winning playwright Tim Foley.
Job Description
We’re looking for a proactive and flexible individual who is ready to grow in their career. You’ll be working closely with the company directors, two performers, and a wider creative team, acting as a central point of communication to ensure the production is rehearsed and performed smoothly.
This is a dynamic freelance role requiring in person availability in both Greater Manchester and London (Soho Theatre). You’ll be expected to attend production meetings, rehearsals, and all performances, covering pre-show, show, and post-show responsibilities.
Ransack Theatre and ADMA productions will cover accommodation and travel as needed for performances in London.
Fee, Location & Dates
Contract Length: 5 weeks
Fee: £601 per week (Total: £3,005)
Period: September – November 2025

Various locations in Greater Manchester and SOHO Theatre in London.

Rehearsals: Friday 12th September - 24th September 2025
Preview 1: 25th & 26th September
Preview 2: 2nd or 3rd October
Preview 3 : 10-12th November (TBC)

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Contribute to the creation and implementation of rehearsal and technical schedules
Lead on marking up rehearsal and performance spaces
Support technical elements during rehearsals and performances
Oversee rehearsal and show calls for the cast and technical team
Support the procurement of technical equipment for rehearsals and performances
Coordinate communication across creative and production teams
Distribute rehearsal notes, show reports, and relevant documentation
Work collaboratively with in-house technical teams at venues and act as the main point of contact during performances
Communicate with designers and production to ensure technical specifications are accurate and up-to-date
Be available to attend all rehearsals and performances in person
Ensure Health & Safety protocols are followed, including contributing to and adhering to risk assessments
Report any near misses or incidents in line with procedures
Manage the storage and return of hired items and equipment post-run
Contribute to the creation of a production bible for future touring and presentations
Person Specification
Essential
Has supported or been a stage manager in the past
Has no more than 6 years experience as a professional stage manager
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with the director, performers, and creative/production teams
Confident IT skills, including familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Email, etc.)
Strong problem solving ability and feel confident working independently and as part of a team.
Calm under pressure and can work in a fast paced environment
Willing to stay in London for the two week performance period
Desirable
Based or has a base in Greater Manchester and be willing to travel across Greater Manchester
Basic knowledge of LX or sound operating (not essential but helpful)
